Barely teens when they formed in Bury, Alive's play-anywhere attitude soon had them gigging everywhere from pubs and clubs, to schools and prisons, to arenas and even Buckingham Palace . Along the way they matured from poppy beginners into a thoroughbred rock machine, fusing the songcraft of the Beatles and Oasis; Led Zeppelin and The Who's strutting muscle; and a wink of post-Madchester sass. Fresh and exciting live performers, the band comprises seasoned musicians Andy Ross (lead guitar & vox), Craig Stelnicki (Bass), Daz Kane (Rhythm Guitar) and Simon Moore formerly with Ian Brown (drums). “Our music's very different from what's around in the sense that it's rock, but it's still got that pop sensibility, with strong choruses” explains Alive's vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Andy Ross. “A lot of music today is either one or the other, but our music's both.” Growing up amidst manufactured boy bands, Alive looked to ‘60s pop and ‘70s classic rock for inspiration. Then Oasis made rock ‘n roll credible again - Alive took fresh energy from the brothers Gallagher and ran with it. Now, with their second album in the works (follow-up to ‘02's All Frequencies Covered ), and former Ian Brown drummer Simon Moore aboard, Alive announce their musical re-invention with single “Heaven City”, combining Angus Young guitar bravado, stadium-ready choruses, and optimistic tongue-in-cheek swagger. Alive's priority was to capture their in-concert chemistry on disc: “We try to make it sound like you're there with us” explains bassist Craig Stelnicki. Though poised to break big with “ Heaven City ”, Alive are refreshingly committed to music for all the right reasons. “We're going to be around for a long time” states Stelnicki. “If you still get that buzz at rehearsal, then can't get to sleep afterwards ‘cos you're still buzzin' from it, then this is the industry you should be in!” With “ Heaven City ” about to impact Radio and TV, just watch as Alive's rare unity, passion, and talent infects the whole nation and beyond. |
